I wanted to send a quick note and thank you for serving as a delegate. I know from experience that delegates spend many hours of their time as they engage in the process of vetting those running for office.

I am encouraged to see that there are several strong candidates running to join me in representing Utah in the United States Senate.

Each of the Senate candidates brings different strengths and backgrounds to the table, and ultimately the delegates and voters of Utah will determine who will be the best candidate for the job.

I am especially pleased to hear that several of the contenders for this Senate seat are committing to delegates that they will join me in voting against bills like the omnibus spending bill that was passed a few weeks ago.

I need all the help I can get in the Senate to prevent the passage of bills that are

  1. Written in secret
  2. Introduced at the last minute with an artificial deadline
  3. Offered without any chance for amendment

I will continue to do everything I can to make the Senate work for the people of Utah. You can do your part by sending me a strong ally.

This level of accountability is a direct result of the caucus system, and I appreciate the role you’re playing in this process. I support the caucus system. It encourages grassroots-level participation in our party. We should protect and keep it.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the convention this Saturday.

Best,

Senator Mike Lee
